For those with any level of speaking anxiety, there is nothing worse than the dread of public speaking. If you experience dry mouth, panic, pounding heart, blank mind, sweaty or cold hands, frozenness, shakiness, or just want to avoid speaking, this class is for you. Practice how to use breath to relieve anxiety and quiet inner mind chatter. Experience how to charge your body to feel vibrantly alive, embodied, and ready to speak powerfully and authentically. Learn centering techniques and visualizations for success so you can create a strong, clear, focused presentation. Licensed psychotherapist, motivational speaker and writer Sally Bonkrude is a certified Gestalt therapist who specializes in overcoming public performance anxieties.

Level One ... a six week series focusing on vocal technique and performance practice in a small and supportive environment. Each week you will prepare, perform and receive supportive ideas on ways to improve. Limited to 6 Singers.

 

Level Two...a six week series focusing on taking your singing to the next level, by practicing and then performing on open mics in the Denver area. You bring your supportive team with you, and together we have fun creating new singing experiences. Limited to 6 Singers.

Join the CFU Singers at Colorado Free University

 

Join CFU's new singers group and discover your community of music lovers! This is an unusual opportunity to learn basic singing skills, enjoy singing with a group, play with improvisation, and discover ways to integrate instruments and movement with singing. Each session will culminate with a performance that is fun and free-spirited. Sally Bonkrude is the popular instructor of "If You Can Talk, You Can Sing." She brings enthusiasm, unconditional support, and a love of the art of singing. She has a BS in music and an MA in transpersonal psychotherapy. Sally is upbeat, energetic, and an experienced musician and performer. No special talent is necessary to join, just be ready to connect with other singers and let yourself be uplifted and energized.

Beginning Voice: If You Can Talk, You Can Sing

 

Discover the singer within! Enjoy uncovering the voice that's uniquely yours through playing with breathing techniques, vocal agility, improvisation and movement. You'll surprise yourself with newfound energy, inner confidence and a more powerful speaking voice. Experience the joy of singing, together as a group, as you practice your developing skills. If you'd like to experience "solo" singing, it is optional. This fun, relaxed, gentle class is perfect for more tentative singers. Sally Bonkrude has been a member of the National Association of Singers for years, has taught voice for over 20 years, and has also performed nationally as a children's performer. She currently teaches piano and voice and is a music performance coach. Sally is energetic, fun, funny, and sure to put you at ease. Bring water and wear loose clothing. You'll be delighted to find you can sing, after all.
