Creating a bonding relationship with your kids...

Want to build a strong and lasting relationship with your kids? Well, it's the little things that count the most....the hug goodnight, the funny nickname, the little tap on their shoulder with a smile that only the two of know means, “I love you forever.” Taking the time, to check in on your child's life while doing daily routines together like making dinner, packing a lunch, picking up the house, folding laundry can lead to conversations that might otherwise be missed. Showing interest in your child's reading, homework and special interests are also keys to staying connected.

Lessons from my Mom

My Mom died a few years ago, and I must say I still miss her. The lessons my Mom taught me about being a good Mom still ring true today. My Mom wasn't perfect, but she got a lot of stuff right, and here it is:

  1. Make your kids a priority
  2. Don't be afraid to have your kid sit on your lap even when they're 15. Sometimes all they need is a good cry and a good hug.
  3. Attend your child's events even if you have no idea what's happening, you don't want to go and you have no clue if they are doing a good job.
